MOLYBDENUM METALS

Category:

MOLYBDENUM

In nature, molybdenum occurs in the form of molybdenum sulfide and molybdenum lead. However, the silvery white, very hard transition metal is softer and more ductile than tungsten. In addition, only tungsten and tantalum have a higher melting point. Molybdenum is an alloying element for increasing strength, corrosion and heat resistance.

Applications areas

Due to its high temperature resistance, the metal is used for the manufacture of parts for extreme applications such as aerospace and metallurgical engineering. It is also used in the oil processing as a catalyst for sulfur removal.
